What this comparison includes
Petrol cost uses UK MPG and £/litre. EV cost uses miles per kWh and your electricity unit rate (home overnight rates often beat peak).
Add indicative tax, insurance and servicing. Depreciation and finance are left out here — pair with the finance and running-costs tools for a fuller picture.
Public rapid charging is usually far more expensive per mile than home charging — raise the £/kWh if that is how you recharge.
Tips
Home vs rapid
At ~28p/kWh home vs £0.70+/kWh rapid, the EV “saving” can vanish for high public-charge users.
Insurance
Some EVs insure higher than the petrol they replace. Edit both fields honestly.
Company cars
BIK can dominate the EV decision for employees — use the company-car tax tool alongside this.
